• Our Product

Oceana can design-build any kind of artificial rockwork and aquarium decorations or can exactly realize any design supplied by the client.
We only do custom jobs and therefore all our creations of any size are unique and never duplicated.

Prior to building sizeable projects, we always supply the client with an extremely detailed scale model of the proposed exhibit.
Great care is exercised in building the more accurate scale models.
We have miniature versions of all our sizeable corals and artifacts.
We prefer to use the scale 1:10 for all our models to ensure that the model is a true miniature representation of the final product. Using this relatively large scale, a lot of detail can be built in the model, which is not intended to give a vague idea of the final product but it is an exact miniature of the proposed exhibit.

All our products are made mostly in fiberglass and are meticulously hand painted using epoxy paints following the secular tradition of the Italian hand painted porcelain.
FRP is a time honored non-toxic and everlasting material.

The extreme resilience of FRP, together with its lightweight, allows us a completely innovative and revolutionary build and assembly method:
We completely pre-fabricate the displays of any size in our factory and we ship them in sections to be re-assembled on site in no time.

Even the more gigantic structures are prefabricated in the factory.

The advantages of our unique construction and installation method are many:

  • Indestructible, completely non-toxic and lightweight FRP can be molded and textured by us to look practically indistinguishable from the real thing. We possess the equipment, the craft, the experience and the know-how to turn plastic into anything imaginable.
  • Oceana’s artificial corals are virtually indestructible, they are
shark and turtle resistant and their color never fades.
The total absence of toxicity renders the tank suitable for fish immediately and no washing, rinsing or curing is required.

Our corals are proudly manufactured in house and they are made to integrate perfectly and exclusively with our fiberglass rock substrate.
No attachment at the base of the coral is visible and like in nature, the corals emerge naturally from the rock.
Under no circumstances we supply loose corals but all the corals we produce are destined for the creation of our artificial reefs.

Our selection of coral colonies from few millimeters to man-size is unmatched and our unique hand coloring technique allows any shade of color, from bright to subdue, to be achieved according to customer taste and requirements.

Counting the variations in size and color, we can offer a selection of more than 5000 different coral colonies and even in the more gigantic reef displays, we can avoid the same coral repetition effect.
From man-size corals to the smallest detail

  • An Oceana FRP made structure has almost no weight in marine or freshwater but naturally and slowly, sinks to the bottom of the tank. This fact is extremely important because eliminates engineering calculation for the weight impact of the exhibit on the structure of the tank. The exhibit has practically no weight impact on the bottom of the tank.

The fixation of the exhibit to the structure of the tank is very simply and quickly accomplished gluing it with fiberglass, epoxy glue or silicon to the bottom or the sides of the tank without interfering or violating the existing waterproofing with brackets and screws. This alone, is a paramount advantage because zero interference with the tank’s structure and waterproofing eliminates conflicts of responsibilities between the rockwork and waterproofing Companies. Substantial time is also saved this way in accomplishing the fixation of the exhibit to the existing tank structure.

  • FRP rockwork requires minimum thickness to achieve extreme resilience therefore the amount of water displaced by the rockwork is negligible: a thick cement structure on the contrary, can displace and replace up to a fifth of the water volume of the tank.

  • The most substantial and advantageous innovation of Oceana fiberglass construction consists in the total prefabrication in the factory and in the consequent super quick installation on site:
Oceana has a big enough factory to allow the total prefabrication of even the most gigantic structures.

The client can inspect the job completed and painted and finished in detail at the factory and changes of details and colors can be easily achieved at this stage prior to the definitive shipment.
Prefabricating at the factory is much quicker and much cheaper than building on site.
Increase in transport cost is negligible since, even building on site requires transport of the raw materials.
Raw materials can be difficult to introduce in foreign countries due to varying custom regulations with possible delays and usually they attract high duties on entry, on the contrary a finished exhibit is easier to clear from customs and usually attracts no or negligible duties on entry.

Overseas working permits for a large number of workers for long periods, are often difficult and lengthy to obtain.
On the contrary, usually no problem for a small installation team working overseas for a short time.
A large number of specialized workers can be put to work at the factory in a more economical way, since the costs of a large number of skilled people on site overseas are much higher.
On top of the substantial time and money saving, prefabricating implies a great peace of mind and protection for the client since nothing is shipped for assembly that has not been inspected and approved in its finished status at the factory.

Zero risks and no surprises on site for the client.

  • The approved structure is then cut in sections and container shipped anywhere in the world for extra quick assembly on site by our specialists assembly team, using our invisible joint technique. Our installation process is not only quick but also very clean.

Durban Port is the largest container port in Africa with state of the art facilities and worldwide connections.

Always, the aquarium projects are on an extremely tight time schedule.

The conventional construction methods can start only when the waterproofing of the tank is completed and construction on site is always lengthy and costly.

On the contrary, with our method, the prefabrication of the rockwork can begin even before the construction of the tank has started.

Our prefabricated structure can be installed in a record time even after the glass of the tank has been sealed and the first hydro test has been completed.

Ideally, the assembly is done taking advantage of the small time interval, between the waterproofing of the tank and the sealing of the acrylic glasses. In order to save time, we have successfully installed our exhibitry in contemporary with the placement-sealing of the acrylics, done by others.
In particular cases we have done successfully wet installations, installing the rockwork without emptying the tank or removing the fishes.

  • The final advantage of our completely prefabricated, lightweight rockwork consists in the fact that the rockwork can go out of the tank as easy and quick as it went in. This is very important in the unfortunate case of a structural leak appearing after the first hydro test: the exhibit can be easily removed allowing the solution of the problem and then re-installed.
Another advantage of the exhibit not being a structural and petrified part of the tank, consists in the fact that can be easily removed and changed, if in the course of the years the client decides to change the look or the destination of the tank.

Finally, the characteristics of Oceana’s innovation are:
    - Super detailed and true to life 1:10 models
    - Superior craftsmanship and exceptional speed in construction at the factory
    - Record time and clean installations on site
    - Competitive prices and excellent customer service
